The Queen's funeral on Monday (September 19) is also a bank holiday, meaning some businesses - including shops, pubs and restaurants - might be closed.
Billions of people across the globe are expected to watch the live broadcast of Queen Elizabeth's funeral, which takes place at Westminster Abbey in London. Some 2,000 people, including world leaders and foreign royals, will be in attendance.
The service is expected to be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and begins at 11am. Mancunians can watch proceedings live on big screens in Manchester city centre, while commemorative events and services are also being held across the region.
But how will the bank holiday impact public transport? Services across trains, busses and the Metrolink will be operating slightly differently on Monday.
Here are the changes to be aware of before planning your travel for the bank holiday...
Trains
Peak restrictions will not apply and off-peak tickets can be used throughout the day. Check with your operator for the latest service information and timetables:
Bus
Greater Manchester bus services will run on a Sunday timetable on the day of the funeral. Ring and Ride services will continue to operate, while Local Link services will run to a Sunday timetable.
Stagecoach Manchester will run to a Sunday service in honour of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Passengers are advised to plan their travel on Monday using the Stagecoach app or online Journey Planner.
Metrolink
Metrolink services will operate to a Sunday timetable, with trams running from 7am until midnight with a 12-minute frequency across all lines. Between 10am and 12.30pm, Exchange Square Metrolink stop will be closed while the screening of the funeral takes place nearby, according to TfGM.
During this time trams between Rochdale and East Didsbury will divert via Shudehill and Market Street. A two-minute silence will take place from 10.50am, during which time services will be paused.
