Amazon Prime Day has officially landed in the UK and the 48 hour online event has brought some of their biggest deals and discounts yet.
The highly anticipated 2-day event started this morning and will run until Wednesday, July 13, meaning shoppers have the next couple of days to grab a few bargains.
Of course, Prime Day is not the only huge sales event run by Amazon, as shoppers notoriously flock to the delivery giant for another sales bonanza - Black Friday. The yearly tradition is another sales event that has seen Amazon offer bargain hunters massive savings and offers.
But, does one sales event offer better deals than the other?
While Black Friday typically takes place later on in the year, some of us might be wondering if it is worth waiting for. With rising prices caused by the cost of living crisis, some shoppers might find that they would prefer to wait, that is, if Black Friday offers better deals than Prime Day.
For anyone wondering when Amazon's product typically tend to be cheaper, then it looks like money experts from Pricerunner have some handy information that will come in useful.
Even if you are the most skilled bargain hunter, knowing when to get the best deals and discounts can sometimes be an exhausting hit or miss process.
With any sale shoppers will most likely be wondering if the price is as good as it seems, and if they could possibly get a better price from another sale.
PriceRunner, one of the UK’s leading independent price comparison websites with over 1.6 million products from more than 5,000 retailers, decided to find out.
They analysed the price across more than 1,000 popular products from Amazon's most popular categories, including coffee machines, gaming, speakers, tech and printers, to find out if they were cheaper on Prime Day or Black Friday.
Like many events involving discounts, it turns out that the answer may not be as simple as one would think.
Initially, they found that Prime Day was the winner with 42% of products being cheaper to buy during the 48 hour event, with 38% on Black Friday, while 19% were cheapest on both days.
There were a few standout products that highlighted the difference between both sales event. For example, Pokémon White Version 2 for the Nintendo DS is priced at £390 on Prime Day, but costs £200 on Black Friday. The Melitta Look Therm Coffee Maker comes in at £39 on Prime Day, and £88 on Black Friday.
Knowing when to get the best deal isn't always easy, as Christine Gouldthorp, Consumer Expert at Pricerunner explains: "I would love to say that there is one golden rule to getting products at their absolute cheapest price, but it is sadly not that simple.
"Last year, 42% of Amazon's products in our analysis were cheaper on Prime Day and 39% on Black Friday. My best tip is to always check a product's price history to make sure a deal really is as good as it seems."
As price matching can often vary, shoppers are always encouraged to do some quick research to make sure that they are receiving a good bargain.
