It may be worth investing in an air fryer as high energy bills loom this winter, experts have revealed.
Electricity supplier Energia has released data on the household items that hit bills the hardest, as well as advice on how to curb your usage this winter. The green energy provider calculated the expense of household appliances based on running cost per hour to come up with figures.
Air fryers have been getting a lot of good press lately, but do they really make a difference to your bills? And if so, by how much?

According to Energia they are a good investment.. The use of an airfryer amounts to 55 cents per hour, slightly lower than the 57 cent cost associated with household ovens.
However, using an air fryer for long periods of time ultimately pays off. Air fryers usually cook food in much quicker time and the data shows that using an air fryer for 15 minutes amounts to 40 per cent less energy than 1 hour of oven use.
The energy supplier also suggested that people invest in a coffee machine, which could help them save money on their bills. Caffeine lovers could benefit from the investment, as the devices use on average 60 per cent less energy than a household kettle. The news emerges as government buildings gear up to scrap non-essential kettles from offices this winter.
They also recommended that households who rely on tumble drying put similar clothes together for optimum drying.
The research revealed: “Ensuring similar items are dried together can mean instead of putting on two 120-minute loads, which would cost you €5.07, you could do one 60-minute load and one 120-minute load. This would cost €3.80, saving you 25 per cent on your bill.”
Energia says this method not only helps ease financial pressures but can also prolong the lifespan of clothes.

The survey showed that power showers and tumble dryers were amongst the most expensive household items. A running shower costs an average of €3.33 per hour, with a 10 minute long shower costing on average 56 cents.
Meanwhile, 15 minutes use of a tumble dryer amounted to 19 cents, with an hourly cost of €1.30. Surprising items that fell at the lower end of the list included dishwashers, washing machines and TV consoles.
