Arctic Monkeys forced to cancel gig at Marlay Park due to 'illness'

Arctic Monkeys have pulled out of a Dublin gig the night before they were due to take the stage due to an "illness".

The legendary British band formed in the early 2000s. They were due to take to the stage at Marlay Park on Tuesday, 20 June as part of a series of gigs at the venue.

But now Arctic Monkeys have confirmed that lead singer Alex Turner is unwell and that they unfortunately won't be performing tomorrow night. The gig has been postponed to an undecided date.

Taking to Twitter, Arctic Monkeys said: "We are extremely sorry to announce the cancellation of Arctic Monkeys show at Marlay Park in Dublin tomorrow.

"Alex is suffering from acute laryngitis, and following medical advice has been ordered to rest. Alex and the band apologise for the huge disappointment this will inevitably cause to all their Irish fans."

They have confirmed that refunds will be offered to ticketholders for the gig at Marlay Park. "Full refunds will be credited back to the ticket purchaser's account by Ticketmaster within the next six working days."

Irish fans immediately flocked to social media to wish Alex a speedy recovery. One person commented: "Get well soon...The money I've spent getting over to Dublin to see them, fuming is the word!"

A second added: "Wishing Alex a swift recovery, hope he can get some rest." A third said: "Disappointed was really looking forward to Marlay Park but health comes first. Feel better soon."
