Liverpool is bracing itself for an ice-cold snap, with temperatures predicted to sink as low as -1C.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Merseyside. They warned that frequent wintry showers will spread through the early hours of Thursday as Arctic air moves in.
These will fall on frozen ground in many areas, leading to the formation of icy stretches on untreated surfaces. In addition, showers are likely to fall as snow on high ground, with slight accumulations possible in places.
