Just this past weekend, Archie Griffin, the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in college football history had a statue unveiled in his honor at the Rose Bowl. Ohio State Athletic Director, Ross Bjork announced shortly after that the same honor will be bestowed on Griffin outside Ohio Stadium.
No one is a bigger ambassador of college football or The Ohio State University than Griffin. It probably should’ve happened much sooner, however, this seems like a fitting year as 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of Archie winning his first Heisman in 1974.
The statue that will be unveiled on August 30, the day before the season opener for the Buckeyes, is a gift from the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation. It will be a replica of the one that now stands near the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
What a moment for Archie, his family, teammates & @OhioStateFB

When you think Ohio State football, Archie Griffin is among the first to come to mind. The entire opening weekend of the season will be one celebrating Griffin. Not only will his statue be revealed, but Archie will have the honor of dotting the “I” in Script Ohio. He will become the only 16th non-band member to do so.
