The two had already been living together, which meant no one suspected they were secretly married.
Archana explained that one of the reasons for keeping the marriage under wraps was initial resistance from Parmeet’s parents. However, the larger concern was the industry mindset of the 1990s, where married actors—especially women—were often overlooked for roles. Parmeet shared that even being in a serious relationship could negatively affect a heroine’s career. “At that time, forget marriage—if you were even seriously seeing someone, actresses would stop getting work,” he said.
Echoing his thoughts, Archana added, “It was a sick trend back then. Actresses were judged for their personal lives. Thankfully, that mindset has changed now. Kareena Kapoor and Kajol have broken that mould.”
The couple eventually revealed their marriage years later, once the industry began evolving and opportunities were no longer dictated by marital status.

Archana and Parmeet first met in 1988 at a friend’s house and later spent the evening together at a club. Parmeet called her the very next day, and the two soon grew close. Archana has candidly shared in her vlogs that their relationship began as a one-night stand, which gradually turned into a deep and lasting bond.
The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in 1992 and are now parents to two sons, Aaryamann and Ayushmaan. Beyond acting, Archana and Parmeet run a popular YouTube channel where they share glimpses of their lives through travel, food, and family-focused content.
