Archaic rule forces teacher out of beauty pageant

A teacher's dream of being crowned a beauty pageant winner came to an abrupt end when she was forced out by a 60-year-old regulation of the Education Ministry.

Kanokwan Chusuk announced her withdrawal from the Miss Universe Thailand contest on Monday, despite being voted by judges and fans into the last 30 from the 43 competing in two preliminary rounds.
