Archaeologists from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) have made extraordinary discoveries in the Judean Desert, unearthing a mysterious pyramid-shaped structure and a wealth of ancient artifacts. The excavation, conducted near Nahal Zohar, is part of an ambitious project aimed at preserving historical sites under threat from looting and illegal excavations.
As part of the project, researchers meticulously surveyed over 100 miles of cliffs and explored 900 caves, revealing thousands of artifacts dating back over two millennia. Among the discoveries are ancient scrolls, weapons, wooden furniture, leather objects, cooking utensils, jewelry, textiles, and buttons. The region’s dry climate has remarkably preserved many of these items, providing valuable insights into the daily lives of past civilizations.
