(Picture: Instagram)The body of Aran Chada, a British man who jumped from a boat to save his son, has been found in Italy.
The father-of-two, from Leicestershire, was last seen disappearing underwater on July 22 and his body was found on Tuesday, the local coast guard reported.
He was on holiday with his partner Holly Mosley, son Roman and seven-year-old daughter Floren in Lake Garda when the incident happened.
Mr Chada, a sales executive, is reported to have taken the trip around the time of his 52nd birthday and the family rented a boat when his 14-year-old son got in trouble in the cold water.
“The mother screamed and the father jumped into the water,” a local witness told Italian media, while others reported he “saved his son,” and then disappeared. Ms Mosley called emergency services and a helicopter was sent to the scene as a deep search continued.
The coast guard reported the body was found at 316m deep. They said the drowning was probably caused by an illness following the rescue of his son.
The incident happened a few hundred meters from Limone sul Garda, a picturesque lakeside town where they had been staying in the central north of the country.
A Foreign Office spokesperson added: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in north Italy and are in contact with the local authorities."
The family returned to the UK but are expected to need to return to Italy to identify the body.
