Apple just raised older iPad prices by up to £100 — but you can still get them cheap

When Apple announced its new iPad and iPad Pro tablets, they came with a sharp price increase on the previous generation on this side of the Atlantic, with RRPs up £180 for the entry-level iPad and £250 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

But Apple also took the opportunity to raise the prices of older iPads as well. The 9th generation iPad is still on sale, but where it was once £319, it’s now £369. Likewise, the iPad mini launched at £479 but now costs £90 more at £569.

The biggest price rise is reserved for the still quite new iPad Air. It cost £569 when it arrived in March, but will now cost you £669 if bought via Apple.

At the time of writing, the company’s US prices remain unaffected.

The good news, if you’ve been mulling over one of the affected iPads is that other retailers haven’t yet updated their prices to match Apple. You’ll probably want to act fast if you want one, however.

While some of this iPad inflation likely comes from the recent economic turmoil as the pound still struggles against the dollar, the UK isn’t the only market impacted.

Prices have risen in the EU as well — in Italy, an iPad mini would have cost you €559 last week, but will set you back at least €659 today.

Smaller increases are visible in the Asia Pacific market, where prices have risen by just over 10%
