Apple on Monday officially released the first batch of Apple Intelligence features for the tech giant's newest iPhones, iPads and Mac computers. The artificial intelligence applications come more than five weeks after Apple began selling its iPhone 16 handsets, marketed as "built for Apple Intelligence."
In other news Monday, Apple introduced a new lineup of iMac desktop computers.
The Apple Intelligence features are available in free software updates for devices with the latest Apple processors.
"Apple Intelligence unlocks exciting new capabilities that make your iPhone, iPad and Mac even more helpful and useful," Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, said in a news release.
He added, "And it's all built on a foundation of privacy with on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, a groundbreaking new approach that extends the privacy and security of iPhone into the cloud to protect users' information."
The first Apple Intelligence capabilities include tools to improve your writing, clean up photos, and summarize notifications, email and messages. It also brings a more natural and conversational Siri digital assistant that responds to voice and text queries.
More Apple Intelligence Tools Coming Soon
Apple Intelligence initially is available only in U.S. English, with more languages to come.
The next batch of Apple Intelligence features is due out in December, the company said.
Apple Intelligence is available on all iPhone 16 models, as well as last year's iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max handsets. It also can be accessed on iPad tablets with A17 Pro and M1 or later chips, and Macs with the M1 or later chips.
The latest iMac computers, announced Monday, use Apple's M4 processor.
The new desktop computers come in seven colors and sport 24-inch displays. Starting at $1,299, the iMacs will be available on Nov. 8 with preorders starting today.
On the stock market today, Apple stock rose 0.9% to close at 233.40.
