Apple has confirmed its use of Google's chips for Apple Intelligence, rather than Nvidia's. In a research paper released on Monday, Apple discussed the foundation language models powering its Apple Intelligence features, revealing the use of Google's TPUv4 and TPUv5p chips for training its artificial intelligence tools.
While Nvidia chips, known for their use of graphics processing units in AI processing, are highly sought after in the tech industry, Apple's research paper made no mention of their utilization. Nvidia currently dominates the AI chips market, with estimates suggesting they control over 70% of the market share, with chips costing tens of thousands of dollars.
