Longtime Apple CEO Tim Cook is stepping down after 15 years leading the company through the Covid pandemic, the US-China trade war, and two Trump presidencies.
Apple — which just celebrated its 50th birthday — said 65-year-old Cook would step down on September 1 as part of “thoughtful, long-term succession planning process”. Cook will be staying on as executive chairman of Apple’s board, according to a press release Monday.
