UPDATE: GMP have retracted the appeal.
Police have issued an appeal to help find a man who is in need of 'urgent medical attention' after being seriously assaulted.
The man was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary after being attacked in Withington last night (Friday, April 15). However, he left the hospital before he could be treated for a wound to the back of his head.
Police say the correct details for the man were not given prior to him leaving the hospital. Officers say they are "concerned" for his welfare and have urged anyone who may be able to help identify him to get in touch.

An image of the man - taken inside the hospital during the early hours of this morning - has been released as part of a public appeal. Officers believe that the man was accompanied by a woman on his way to and from hospital.
A post on the GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme & Burnage Facebook page added: " Enquiries with other local hospitals have been unsuccessful and we are working to try and identify him through forensic analysis as quickly as possible, but are hopeful someone may be able to help us through this appeal.
"Detectives from #WestDidsbury CID urge anyone who recognises the man or knows his whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible so we can ensure he can receive the necessary care.
"If you can help us, please call 0161 856 3043 quoting incident 506 of 16/04/2022."
