Appeal renewed for missing Scots man Alan Murray as family concern grows

Police searching for missing Moray man Alan Murray have renewed their appeal for information one week on from his disappearance.

The 54-year-old was last seen at around 11.30pm on Saturday February 26 in the Seatown area of Cullen, near Grant Street.

Since he was reported missing, locals and family members have been coordinating search efforts on social media and asking residents to check CCTV in a bid to recap his movements.

People turned out in droves to help with a community-organised walkabout earlier this week.

Police divers have also been out along the Moray coastline. As of yet, no-one has been able to deduce where Alan has gone.

Officers are continuing to make official enquiries - and have asked the public to report any information, no matter how slight, to them.

Police Inspector Tony McCullie said: "Extensive searches have been carried out since Alan was reported missing a week ago.

"These have included detailed searches of the waters and coastline surrounding Cullen by the Police Scotland Dive and Marine Unit all so far without success.

"We have been keeping Alan’s family informed throughout this activity and they are extremely concerned for his welfare, given this is out of character for him."

Family members have taken to social media to thank locals for their support.

Posting in a public community Facebook group, one relative said: "It meant the world to us seeing the community come together to support us all as a family and help us find answers as to what has happened to him.

"Although we didn't find anything today, we won't be giving up - the search goes on, please keep a look out when you are walking around the area."

Alan is described as around 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build with fair hair.

When last seen, he was wearing a pink shirt, black jacket, orange snood, dark jeans and ankle boots.

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2576 of 27 February 2022.
