New data released today from the match-funding technology platform Givematch, has shed light on how Muslims will connect to their faith and give back to charitable causes this Ramadan.

The brand, which is helping Muslims to do twice the amount of good during Ramadan, found that over a third (37%) will donate to charity through an app or website in the holy month.

During Ramadan, Muslims worldwide will fast during daylight hours, dedicate more time to prayers and focus more on supporting charitable causes. Their research also found that:

  • 74% of British Muslims will use social media to learn about the teachings of Islam during Ramadan

  • YouTube (63%), Instagram (49%) and TikTok (45%) are the three most popular social media platforms for connecting Muslims to their faith

  • 71% get ideas for Eid gifts on social media

  • 64% say social media keeps them motivated during Ramadan

The data shows that 89% of British Muslims wish they were able to donate more to charity this Ramadan. and they said it’s more important than ever to donate this year, as people are likely to be struggling. Givematch is the perfect way for people to double their impact.

Givematch is a tech-for-good platform enabling people to double their donations through the power of social influence and sharing. When a person donates through Givematch, they receive a unique link. When they get two friends to donate via that link, their original donation is doubled.

The platform works alongside generous corporate donors to offer their match-funding services. As campaigns progress, donors can see how much is left in its match-funding pot - meaning they can follow their chosen charity's fundraising journey every step of the way.

New data from Givematch shows that the average British Muslim will donate £150 this Ramadan. The data also showed that an incredibly generous 1 in 5 were planning on donating over £500. This Ramadan, the platform will help donors to do more - doubling the impact for causes close to their hearts.

Ismael Dainehine, the founder of Givematch, said: “Ramadan is a moment for more – more prayers, more family, more giving. By donating through Givematch, people can make their Ramadan donations do double the amount of good.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner with many fantastic charities this year. With Muslim Aid, Islamic Relief, Orphans In Need, and many others on board, donors from all backgrounds can have their donations matched for a cause that speaks to them. We’re also very grateful to the corporates whose support make our work possible.”
