Apex Legends’ chaotic Power Trip event lets players shrink, explode, and more

Apex Legends has had plenty of events in its seven-year run, but so far, none have promised to be quite as chaotic as the Power Trip Event.

Beginning on June 2 and running until June 23, Power Trip introduces experimental stims to the Apex Games which grant special modifiers including, but not limited to, the ability to double jump, gain red armor and knockdown shields, or even shrink to tiny proportions. Like past events, Power Trip introduces a new collection of skins to the game, including Ash’s long-awaited prestige skin.

Every Wildcard Modifier in Power Trip

The main attraction of most Wildcard events are the special abilities players can choose for themselves by using the crafter. Power Trip is switching things up by applying modifiers to the entire match for different rounds, which guarantees a special kind of chaos as the modifier changes for everyone.

Here’s every modifier players can experience during the event:

  • Featherweight: Legends can jump higher, double jump, and fast fall while airborne.
  • Armored Up : Gain Red Tier Armor and Knockdown Shield.
  • Red Handed: All weapons are upgraded to Mythic. (And we mean all weapons. Get ready to meet some new Mythics.)
  • Crouching Camo: Legends cloak while crouching or sliding.
  • Small Fry: All Legends shrink. Adorable.
  • Blind Box: All Legends get the same random weapon.
  • Adrenaline Rush: Run and slide faster, wallrun on command. Get an extra speed boost on knocking an enemy.
  • Explosive: Legends gain infinite grenades, and self-destruct on death.
  • Blank Slate : All effects are disabled. Take a breather.

This line up means players will have to adapt or die trying, though the quick respawns of Wildcard mean there will be plenty of chances to gain a footing on a chaotic battlefield before being sent back to the lobby. By far the most exciting modifier here is Red Handed, though the ridiculousness of Small Fry (especially combined with speed from Axle’s tactical) will make for entertaining games.

Ash Finally Gets Her Prestige Skin

Ash first debuted in Season 11 of Apex Legends, which means it’s taken 18 full seasons for our favorite simulacrum to gain her prestige skin. And, boy, was it worth it.

The final form of Ash’s prestige skin is like an angel of death. Combining pearlescent casing with gold armor, Ash wears a translucent white veil which only reveal her glowing pink eyes. While the first two stages of the skin are excellent designs, the final level is breathtaking and truly fit the prestige skin’s goal of showing a Legend at their absolute peak.

Skins for Octane, Fuse, Bangalore, Lifeline, and Wraith will also be part of the standard collection, with Octane as a stand-out in a sort of Bane-inspired look featuring glowing green tubes, oversized muscles, and a (mostly) masked head.

Power Trip Weekly Challenges and Free Packs

Every week of Power Trip will come with its own set of challenges, each of which will earn players one thematic pack a week. These three packs will be for Ash, Conduit, and Vantage, as each of those Legends will be free for all players during the event.

The challenges will only be available for a week each, so to complete them make sure to log in and check back regularly. Past events have generally been comprised of simple challenges that can be finished by playing a few matches of mixtape or pubs.
