A plush three-bed property ideal for fans of the silver screen is up for sale. The apartment is located above the famous travel bookshop from the hit movie Notting Hill.
The shop on Portobello Road provided the exterior for the Travel Book Co. in the 1999 film which starred Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. The asking price for the apartment is nearly £2.4m.
The film, which earned several award nominations, told the romance story of Grant's bookseller and Roberts' Hollywood actress. It was a hit at the box office and its locations in London are still visited by fans today – including the bookshop.
The apartment, listed for £2.375m, boasts more than 1,400 sq ft of living space over three floors. It also has an open plan reception room, kitchen and dining room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a spacious outdoor terrace. And the entire third floor of the apartment is dedicated to the master bedroom complete with an en-suite bathroom, which includes a steam room.
Hermione Russell, of sellers Russell Simpson, said: "This gorgeous apartment on Portobello Road is providing a purchaser the chance to own a piece of cinematic history. The beautiful triplex apartment, alongside its iconic location, is truly a one-of-a-kind sales opportunity.
"Alongside this notable home is on one of the most famous roads in area, right in the hub of Notting Hill with several shops, bars, restaurants and the market close by.”
Although the building's exterior was used in the film, scenes indoors were filmed in a private studio. The building was formerly the Nicholls Antique Arcade and then went on to be a furniture shop called Gong.
It now currently serves as a gift shop but retains the iconic blue façade, which has remained in place since filming took place in 1998. The shop was home to a variety of major scenes including Roberts' character's famous confession of love.
