Anything Trump Is a Scam: US Mint Slammed for Selling 100-Coin Bag of Trump Coins for Over $150

The United States Mint has faced criticism after putting a 100-coin bag featuring President Donald Trump on sale for $154.50. The bag contains 100 official $1 coins. Their face value is therefore $100. That leaves buyers paying $54.50 above the coins' face value.

The price has prompted sharp reactions online, including claims that anything associated with Trump is a scam. But the criticism needs to be separated from the facts of the sale. The Mint has clearly presented the product as a collector offering rather than simply selling $100 worth of everyday currency. The coins form part of America's 250th anniversary celebrations and are being issued as Semiquincentennial $1 coins.
