Antonio Rudiger: Simon Jordan slams Real Madrid rumours after Chelsea transfer decision

Simon Jordan has heavily criticised Antonio Rudiger’s decision to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed the German international would leave Stamford Bridge after five years with the club upon the expiration of his contract.

Chelsea made multiple offers to keep the 29-year-old in west London though their final offer - one worth £230k-per-week - was rejected as Real Madrid circle.

Decision-makers at the club were conscious of the risk of more players looking to run their contracts down to lucrative pay days ahead of talks with other key names such as N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

Rudiger quickly became a huge figure in the first-team under Tuchel after struggling for consistent game time under Frank Lampard.

As such, a number of clubs were linked with a move for a player who proved influential in the 2020/21 Champions League-winning campaign, though Madrid appear to have won the race.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “200 grand a week, which by the way is outrageous amounts of money. He wants a £10 million pound sign on…

“Are you reading this? His ghastly wretched agent wants £10 million quid.

“I mean this is madness! Greed… it’s absolute greed. He’s going to Real Madrid because he’s greedy!

“End of discussion. Good riddance!”
