Antonio Rudiger agrees with Thomas Tuchel's assessment of Chelsea's draw with Brighton

Antonio Rudiger has admitted he is "not really happy" with Chelsea being held to a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening.

The Blues remain third in the Premier League table following the stalemate with the Seagulls, but second-place Liverpool now have two games in hand on their rivals, while Manchester City continue to pull away from both.

Chelsea did take the lead down on the south coast, with Hakim Ziyech finding the bottom corner from distance, somewhat against the run of play at the Amex Stadium.

However, Brighton defender Adam Webster headed in from a corner to earn a point against the Blues.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel cut a very frustrated figure at the end of the match, rather unsurprisingly, and blamed the below-par performance on the fatigue his players are suffering from what at the moment.

Tuchel, when asked if his players now need two days off, said: "So, so badly. You can say it is an excuse or whatever but it is like this. Look at our schedule, when we arrived at Man City we had the Carabao Cup in the week and they did not. Now we arrive here and they have more days to prepare and the whole week before to prepare.

"It's like this. We play since November. We are the team that plays and plays and plays. We need to recharge the batteries, disconnect. This is my feeling and it's why I give the players two days off.

"We will prepare for two days, use Friday and Saturday to prepare for Sunday because we have a game against Tottenham."

Now, Rudiger, who played the full 90 minutes in Brighton, has taken to social media to express his disappointment about the draw and the performance.

He said on Twitter: "A draw in a very open game. Not really happy with that - two points dropped. A lot of work to do to be done to get back to winning ways very soon again. #Hustle #AlwaysBelieve."

Rudiger and Tuchel are both openly frustrated with what is happening at Chelsea at the moment and unfortunately for the Blues, there cannot be too much in the way of rest.

Tottenham are the visitors to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, with Chelsea desperate to return to winning ways. The Blues will of course be boosted by their two wins against Spurs earlier in the month in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
