Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has refused to "comment on speculation" regarding Djed Spence as the Middlesbrough player edges closer to a move to the club. Excelling on loan for Nottingham Forest last campaign, the right wing-back has been tipped to seal a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for some time but Spurs and Middlesbrough have struggled to agree on a fee for the player.
However, a transfer finally looks set to come to fruition very soon with the clubs now close to reaching an agreement for the England Under-21 international. football.london reported on Thursday evening that a deal is now close enough to where a medical can be scheduled in the next 48 hours.
Spence will become the club's sixth signing of the summer once he signs on the dotted line in north London, joining fellow summer arrivals Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison at the club. Impressing going forward for Nottingham Forest last campaign and chipping in with goals and assists, the hope is that the talented player will really be able to flourish in Conte's Spurs system.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham's friendly against Sevilla, Conte stated "it's disrespectful" to speak about Spence as he is still a Middlesbrough player. He did, however, claim that the Lilywhites are always looking to strengthen their squad.
"Yeah, about Spence we don't want to comment about speculation because it is disrespectful for all the other players, for the club and the other team.," he told football.london in his pre-match press conference. "Sure we are always looking to improve the squad if there is the possibility."
