Antonio Conte's next potential Tottenham transfer has been told he is better than Erling Haaland

Tottenham have had a good start to the summer transfer window, with four new arrivals already through the door. A number of Antonio Conte's players returned to Hotspur Way on Monday, with most of the others arriving back this week, apart from Son Heung-min who will meet his teammates in South Korea this weekend.

However there is still business to be done in the transfer window, both with incomings and outgoings. Conte needs to ensure he has the strongest and most cohesive squad possible, ahead of a big 2022/23 campaign.

One position Tottenham may still look for further depth in is attack. Spurs' newest addition is Richarlison, with the Brazilian's five-year deal announced last Friday.

Conte already has a strong front trio of Harry Kane, Son and Dejan Kulusevski, with Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn being used as back-ups last season. Bergwijn has already expressed his desire to leave this summer, with a move to Ajax seeming the most likely.

Moura has spoken to the Brazilian media on a number of occasions and it seems most likely that he will remain in N17 for at least another season. However the 52-year-old likes to have two players in every position and so assuming the Dutch international does leave, he could do with another new attacker.

This could be where Benjamin Sesko comes in, with reports suggesting Tottenham are one of the clubs tracking the youngster. Sesko made 36 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg last season, scoring ten goals and registering seven assists as a centre-forward.

Although these are not quite the numbers Conte would maybe like from a striker, the qualities he has, comments that have been made about him and potential he has shown, could all make him the perfect addition to the Spurs squad.

A few years ago and before Sesko's move to Salzburg, his agent Elvis Basanovic, explained the interest for the 19-year-old. "We had a lot of offers from really big clubs," he admitted.

"Had we decided on the money, Benjamin would have moved to England or Italy. But we decided to look at the bigger picture and the Salzburg project. The biggest clubs in Europe tried to get him. The interest in him was huge; I have never seen anything like it before."

Basanovic's comments indicate that Sesko could've been open to a move to England, which could be a boost if Spurs decide to target him. "Benjamin is one of the greatest talents of his age group in Europe," the centre-forward's agent explained, in 2019.

"He has an incredible body, is tall, fast, has great jumping ability, is technically gifted and his greatest strength is his finishing." In the 2020/21 season, when Sesko would've been just 17/18, the youngster bagged 21 goals and six assists, highlighting his talent.

The striker's quality has been compared to that of Erling Haaland, who will be playing in the Premier League next season, after his big move to Man City. Last year, Sesko responded to the comparison and made an ambitious claim.

"Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy. They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is," he said.

"My team-mates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I'm better than him!"

Although Sesko's agent believes him and Haaland are different players, Basanovic still pointed out all of the 19-year-old's key qualities. "Many compare him to Haaland, but I think they are different types of players. They are similar in physical construction and speed, but they are different players," he explained.

"Benjamin is more of a team player. He is maybe better technically with his skills, but Haaland is a bit more wild with his energy, in a positive sense. He (Sesko) remains a humble, hard-working boy.

"I would not want to put any extra pressure on him. He is still a young boy and there is still a lot ahead of him," Basanovic added.

These comments could make Sesko a perfect fit at Tottenham. Someone who is young, with great potential and ability, but who knows there is room for improvement and space to develop.

With a move to the capital, the striker isn't likely to expect to break straight into the starting line-up and play week in, week out. However this could be even more of a boost as Sesko could learn from the likes of Kane and step-up when needed, to impress Conte.

The Express, who have reported the interest, did explain that a move for the youngster wouldn't necessarily be in this window, with Fabio Paratici and Spurs scouts wanting to keep an eye on him next season. However Spurs have a busy fixture schedule next season so the youngster would be used as rotation and if the Lilywhites do look to Sesko as a target this summer, he could tick a lot of boxes for Conte and the Tottenham team.
