Antonio Conte clarifies summer vision about Spurs future and how talks must go with Daniel Levy

Antonio Conte has strongly suggested that he will leave Tottenham if the club's vision does not match his own when he holds talks this summer. The Italian is set to hold discussions with chairman Daniel Levy and managing director of football Fabio Paratici at the end of the season to discuss the summer transfer window and the club's ambitions for next season.

Conte has previously said that he wants to manage Spurs next season to fight for the Premier League title and he made it clear ahead of the match at Brighton that if someone has a different vision to him, he will leave.

"Honestly I have my vision and the vision is this, it does not change. The vision was the same in the past, the vision is the same in the present, the vision will be the same in future. My vision it will be this. I stop if the vision of someone is not the same," he said. "I have a vision. One vision. I want to fight to win. I want to fight to be competitive. I want to feel that we only have one per cent but we need one per cent to win the title or a trophy in which we participate. We have to feel this. This is my vision and I continue to have this vision.

"Then I know that there are different visions and many clubs have different visions but I think which is my vision and the vison that brought me to be competitive and for sure I follow my vision in any case."

He added: "At this moment the best thing we can do is to be focused on the present. Then, at the end of the season, then everyone has to speak about their own vision and I speak about my vision, and I think also the club will speak about their vision, and Paratici will speak about his vision, and then we will see.

"After this we will see now is too early. We have to be in the present, the future is very far in this moment. For sure there will be a moment when we will go to take decisions."

Someone else whose future is likely to be discussed heavily again this summer is Harry Kane, following last year's situation as Manchester City wanted to sign the England captain. Conte was asked whether Spurs finishing in the top four and delivering Champions League football next season would help keep Kane at the club.

"I think that we need to finish in the best position possible for everybody, not only for Harry. It's important for the ambition, for everybody, for the club, for me, for players like Kane and not only with words but with facts," said the Tottenham boss. "To show, to have ambition, and this is the only thing I can say. Now we have 11 games and at the end then we will see, because we want to fight for something important, not just to participate, so I think many players don’t deserve that and I don’t deserve that, and the club don’t deserve that.

"In this moment I think it is not important to speak about the future. In this moment it is important to see the present because the present is more important in this moment.

"We have to go 11 games and to try to get the best in these 11 games and then we will see. In this moment it is important to be focused on the present and we have a lot of time to sit around the table and then to speak about everything."

Another important player who will certainly be at Tottenham next season is Cristian Romero, with the club set to make the 23-year-old centre-back's loan move a permanent one in the summer.

Conte has high hopes for the Argentina international, who was named Serie A Defender of the Year last season, but wants people to show patience when it comes to his development.

"He is young. He has not great experience. He is a young player with a lot of space to develop. I see him in this way," said the Italian. "For sure he has good potential to improve, with the ball and without the ball. We are talking about another young player, you have to make experience and take experience and improve yourself.

"For sure he likes to be aggressive and to be strong in the duels. To be a defender. In this aspect he is good. A defender has to be strong physically and the opponent has to feel that you are strong in the duels. For sure he has a lot of space for improvement with the ball and without the ball.

"With the ball with centre defenders, I like to start to play from behind. We are working a lot and I think we are improving in this aspect. In modern football it is not enough to be only a good defender. You have to be good to play, as many teams start to play from the back.

"We are trying to improve in every aspect with our defenders, also with this aspect, but Romero is another young player with good prospects. When I speak about patience, when I speak about the time we need to bring this club and to improve the level, it is this.

"It is his first season in this league and you know very well the difficulty of this league. For sure he is a good prospect and a player who can become an important player. You know very well to become an important player it is important to have a great desire, a great will and then he has the possibility to do this."
