Antonio Colak Rangers injury latest as Michael Beale provides update on Souttar, Hagi and Roofe

Antonio Colak might not make Rangers' semi-final clash with Aberdeen on Sunday according to Michael Beale, but Kemar Roofe will.

The Light Blues are heading to Hampden where Beale will the chance to book his place in the Viaplay Cup final and a first chance at silverware as Rangers boss should they get past Jim Goodwin's men. And Rangers have more bodies available but still face a struggle with the fitness of Antonio Colak who was hooked at half time against Dundee United last weekend.

The 29-year-old had been firing on all cylinders before the World Cup break but seems to have a persistent knock yet Beale believes he will be back in action this month but is 'touch and go' for Hampden. Long-crocked Kemar Roofe, however, is available while the Englishman gave updates on the status of John Souttar and Ianis Hagi.

He said: “Colak has a slight problem. It will be touch and go for this game but he should be OK for the other two after that (Kilmarnock and St Johnstone) and Kemar Roofe is fit and raring to go.

“That’s a real positive because I think he is a really high quality player and I remind myself that he was our top scorer when we won the league and has been a really key player when he has been fit.

“Hopefully we see a run of a fit and healthy Kemar over a longer period of time. We had one or two who missed the beginning of the week because they’ve been playing a lot of games and one or two that took knocks last weekend which wasn’t ideal.

“But with every week we’re getting stronger. John Souttar has had another week. He’s ahead of schedule and while this game comes too soon and the astro at Killie the same but I’m hoping to have him in for the St Johnstone Cup game. I also hope to have Ianis Hagi inovlved in that game. It’s a tough, exciting week and we are going to need all of our players.”
