Antonio Cassano believes Roma boss Jose Mourinho is ‘doing worse than he did at Tottenham’

Antonio Cassano believes Jose Mourinho is “doing worse than he did at Tottenham” while in charge of Roma.

The self-proclaimed “Special One” made a shock return to management only weeks after Spurs sacked him, although didn’t formally take charge of the Serie A giants until the start of pre-season.

To many in England, Mourinho is seen as a manager who failed to move with the times and Daniel Levy’s decision to replace the popular Mauricio Pochettino with a man sacked by Chelsea and Manchester United ultimately did not pay off.

Still, despite his fading star, the Portuguese is undoubtedly one of the box office names in management and is as divisive a figure as ever.

Currently, his Roma side sit eighth, six points off Juventus in the final Champions League qualification spot despite an ambitious summer recruitment drive to have seen the likes of Tammy Abraham arrive in a big-money deal.

“Roma are a disaster,” said Cassano, who played for the Italian club between 2001 and 2006, to TuttoMercatoWeb.

“He has been doing terribly since that 6-1 defeat. Mourinho is doing worse than Tottenham, even from the media view, where he was always number one. I am not liking anything.”
