Antiques Roadshow is coming to Cardiff this summer and you can have your family heirlooms valued

Time to dig out those heirlooms from the attic because the BBC's Antiques Roadshow is coming to Wales this summer. The long-running Sunday night telly favourite to set up stall in Cardiff on Tuesday, July 11 , where Fiona Bruce and her team of experts will be on hand to offer free valuations on those precious items that have been in your family for decades.

Or maybe you've got something you picked up at a car boot sale more recently and want to find out more about from where or when it originates.

Either way, you could be in for a pleasant surprise should the visiting specialists reveal that you've actually got a rare collectible that's worth a fortune.

The team will be in Alexandra Gardens, Cathays Park, Cardiff, for the day from 11am.

You must have a ticket to attend as they are limiting the numbers in attendance. Successful applicants will receive their tickets four to six weeks ahead of the event date.

There are two morning sessions you can apply for at 9am and 11am, and two afternoon ones at 1pm and 3pm.

The show producers say: "We welcome people of all ages to the Antiques Roadshow, however please note anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Children under the age of 8 do not require a ticket." Details of ticket applications are here.

The news comes after a woman in Sunday night's edition from Wales was shocked when she discovered a watch her dad bought for £20 is actually worth thousands.

The woman brought the Second World War pilot watch to Powis Castle and Gardens in Welshpool and saw antiques dealer Richard Price tell the woman that the watch was a very rare and sought-after collector's item. More details here.

The summer roadshow will also visit venues in London, Scotland,. Leeds and Northern Ireland. This year the team are asking people to tell them about the special items they would like to bring along and submit some photographs using the ‘Share Your Story’ link here. Members of the team regularly review submissions and, in some cases, might make contact before the Roadshow event to discuss the items.
