Protesters sentenced to decades in prison over ‘Antifa’ shooting at ICE facility

  • A U.S. Marine, Benjamin Song, was sentenced to 100 years in federal prison for shooting and wounding a police officer outside an immigration detention center in Texas .
  • Seven other demonstrators received prison terms ranging from 30 to 70 years during sentencing hearings, with more protesters facing similar sentences next week.
  • The charges stem from a July 4, 2025, demonstration at the Prairieland ICE Detention Center, where prosecutors accused the group of launching a premeditated terror attack.
  • U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor stated the sentences are meant to "send a message to anyone who shares a similar ideology," while critics call the case a politically loaded test case against " Antifa "-linked individuals.
  • Critics fear these prosecutions serve as a "template" for targeting antifascist protesters and silencing political dissent, following a wider Justice Department investigation into the movement.
