Anticipation brewing ahead Perth Beer Festival's 10th anniversary

Anticipation is brewing ahead of the weekend as Perth Beer Festival returns to toast its 10th anniversary.

Good weather, as well as laughs and great times, are forecast with a range of beers, gins, rugby 7s, live music, comedy acts and family-friendly activities being served up at the North Inch today and tomorrow.

The action will start tonight with Perth Comedy Night – headlined by local comedian farmer Jim Smith and renowned TV Presenter Des Clarke – with gates opening at 6pm for an 8pm start.

Tomorrow will see the rugby 7s tournament, featuring men and women teams from across Scotland, kick off from 10.30am.

From noon, kegs will be pouring at Perth Beer Festival and Craft Gin Bar with over 20 ales available to sample alongside five small batch craft gins, including local producer Perth Distillery Co.

The Big Bash Finale will then take place from 7pm with live music and dancing.

On Sunday, organisers expect almost 1000 children from across Scotland to compete in the Perthshire Festival of Mini Rugby.

Andy Caldwell, general manager of Tan International, Perth Beer Festival’s Main Sponsor, visited the marquee at the North Inch earlier this week to see how preparations were progressing, and was accompanied by event organisers, Natalie Mackinnon and Jim Ritchie of Perthshire Rugby.

“It feels really great to be back to celebrate our 10th Perth Beer Festival,” Natalie commented.

“We look forward to welcoming visitors back and hosting new guests in our huge marquee and beer garden to soak up the atmosphere of this fantastic community fundraising event.

“We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Andy Caldwell and his team at Tan International for their continued sponsorship of our event.

“They have sponsored every beer festival and our Perthshire Rugby fundraising for 10 years now.

“We really value their continued support and backing for our community event”.

Andy Caldwell added: “I’m delighted that preparations are going well for the Perth Beer Festival weekend. We wish the organisers and the volunteers who make this community event possible every success”.

Details of the full range of beers and craft gins can be found along with details of all local businesses and individuals who have sponsored drinks at this year’s event on the Perth Beer Festival website.

Tickets are also available for purchase at the token desk during the day.

Natalie concluded: “We’d like to extend a huge thanks to the businesses and individuals who have sponsored drinks and supported this year’s 10th anniversary event and particularly Tan International who have lent their support to our event as main sponsor for the past 10 years.”

Money raised from the festival will support organisers, Perthshire Rugby Club, and other local causes.
