Anthropic and OpenAI announced new cheaper models as they face fierce competition from open-weight competitors.

OpenAI introduced GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, cutting API prices by 50%, while Anthropic unveiled Claude Opus 5.5, saying it will cost 40% less to run than Opus 5.
