The Cleveland Browns have a strong leader in linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. He has been well respected amongst his peers in the locker room ever since his arrival to Cleveland before the 2021 season. However, he is now getting recognition for what he is doing outside of the building as well. First, he was named the Browns’ Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee earlier this week. Now, he has also been named the team’s Ed Block Courage Award recipient of 2023 as well.
Each team nominates one player every year who meets the following qualifications:
“The Ed Block Courage Award is given annually to a member of each of the 32 NFL teams who best exemplifies the qualities of Ed Block – the former head athletic trainer of the Baltimore Colts – based on courage, compassion, commitment and community.”
Who knows how much longer Walker Jr. has in a Browns’ uniform? However, the impact he has made on his teammates and the community during his time in Cleveland has been notable. He now finally gets the recognition he deserves.
