- President Donald Trump fired White House press secretary Katie Zacharia from her role just one week after her hiring was announced and only three days after she gave her first press conference.
- Her remarkably short tenure broke the record previously held by White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci , who had the job for just 11 days in 2017 during Trump’s first term.
- “Records are made to be broken. But I take no pleasure in other people's pain,” Scaramucci said on X Friday afternoon.
- Scaramucci lost his job after giving an expletive-filled interview to a New Yorker reporter in which he badmouthed other senior White House aides.
- Zacharia quickly became embroiled in controversy after saying she took the bar exam in China, later clarifying she misheard the question and thought a reporter asked, “Where were you after law school?”
