Indianapolis Colts rookie Anthony Richardson is expected to start the preseason finale Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
Following the joint practices Tuesday in Philly, head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that most of the starters, including Richardson, would see the field for the finale.
“Yeah, he’ll play on Thursday, and it will be a case-by-case with a lot of these guys. But a lot of the starters will get some reps,” Steichen told reporters.
Richardson didn’t start the second preseason game against the Chicago Bears, along with the rest of the starters, and the major storyline with the rookie has been to get him as many reps as possible.
How long Richardson and the starters will play remains to be seen, especially after a physical joint practice Tuesday. Richardson and the starters were on the field for a full quarter in the opener so we should expect that to be the base line Thursday night.
Just one more game stands between the Colts and the regular season, and we’ll get to see the starters for at least some time Thursday night.
