Anthony Ramos has made a decision to prioritize his friendship with Marc Anthony over a professional opportunity, leading him to drop out of a Jennifer Lopez project. The 32-year-old actor was initially set to star in The Greatest Love Story Never Told, a documentary showcasing the making of Lopez's album This Is Me… Now: A Love Story.
Ramos cited a conflict of interest as the reason for his departure from the project. In a scene from the film, Lopez is seen having a phone conversation with Ramos, where she acknowledges his friendship with Marc Anthony and expresses understanding of his discomfort in working on the project due to their close relationship.
The scene Ramos was supposed to feature in, titled “Rebound,” portrays Lopez in a toxic relationship, symbolizing the struggle to break free from unhealthy love. Ultimately, dancer Gilbert Saldivar was chosen to fill the role originally intended for Ramos.
Lopez's musical project is a film adaptation of her ninth studio album, This Is Me... Now, which delves into her personal journey towards self-love and finding her soulmate, Ben Affleck. Lopez and Affleck, who first dated in 2002 and got engaged that same year, rekindled their relationship in April 2021 and tied the knot in July 2022.
Ramos, known for his role in In the Heights, received support from Marc Anthony during his performance at the Tribeca Festival in 2021. The decision to prioritize his friendship over professional commitments showcases Ramos' values and loyalty towards his close relationships.
