Anthony Ralston believes Celtic best 'will be enough' for more trophies as he vows to graft for Scotland recall

Anthony Ralston vows to renew his claim for a Scotland call-up after being overlooked by Steve Clarke for the upcoming international double header.

And the 23-year-old insists "the pressure is never off" as Celtic seek Premiership and Scottish Cup success to add to their Premier Sports Cup triumph in December.

Ralston has made 40 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions this season, winning a new contract in the process and proving stiff competition for Josip Juranovic.

But his club form wasn't enough to force his way into Clarke 's plans this time around for the games against Poland and Austria or Wales.

He knows that every game is huge for Celtic between now and the end of the season but deems their belief will be enough to see them through to silverware.

They face Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-finals and lead the Ibrox club by three points as the title race heats up with seven games to go.

The full-back said: “We’ve got games coming up after the international break and we’ll be hoping the boys who are away all come back fit and healthy and we can kick on in the last bit of the season.

“The pressure’s never off. You hope to hold your own goals both as a team and individually and always put that pressure on ourselves to achieve everything that we want to.

“Game by game is our mentality and we don’t get too far ahead of ourselves. We will come back in after the internationals and take each training day as it comes, focus on the first game and then take it from there.

“We believe in ourselves. We believe in the team and we’re in a brilliant place.

“We’ve had a great season but it is game by game and our objective is to go into each game and to do our best.

“We believe in the end that will be enough.”

Ralston has only featured for a matter of minutes for Scotland, coming on as a late sub for Kieran Tierney in a memorable 2-0 Hampden win over Denmark in November.

He added: "My aim is to play for my national team. That’s something everyone strives to do.

“That’s not to be at the minute but I’ll keep my head down and keep working both in training and in the games that I play, then hope that one day I can be involved in the national team again.

“My main aim is to play for Celtic, obviously and to do my best for them and the team, then hopefully the national team will come with that in the future.”
