Anthony Martial completes Sevilla loan transfer from Man United until end of season

Anthony Martial has completed his move to Sevilla with the loan move from Manchester United now officially announced.

The Frenchman has passed a medical in Andalusia, and he will wear the number 22 shirt for the Spanish side.

The Rojiblancos will pay his full wages of around £200,000-a-week, but no loan fee or future permanent transfer has been included in the deal.

A statement on their website read: “Sevilla FC and Manchester United FC have reached an agreement which will see Anthony Martial, born in Massy, France on 5th December 1995, join the club on loan until the end of the current season.

“The club have completed a major signing and have strengthened their attacking options, with the player able to play either as a striker or on either flank, preferably on the left, where he can cut inside. “

Martial has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford due to a lack of form and fitness throughout the first half of the season.

The 26-year-old has scored only once all season, leaving his United tally at 79 goals in 269 appearances since joining as the world’s most expensive teenager in 2015.

After a public falling out with interim manager Ralf Rangnick over whether he asked not to play in a recent win at Brentford, Martial came off the bench to help the Red Devils beat West Ham on the weekend.

Rangnick said after the game: “When we last spoke one-and-a-half weeks ago I told him, ‘Listen it’s all about being professional until the very last day’ no matter how long he will stay or want to leave.

“For me it’s about being a professional. It was good to have this conversation with him in the last few games he was part of the squad and today he played a vital role in creating that goal he scored.

“I know that he is a top player, one of the best strikers in the Premier League but we have other players in his position. It is his wish to leave but like I said to him it always take different parts to find an agreement and the way that he trained and played when he came on he showed his professionalism that I expect from everybody.”
