Anthony Gordon has returned to Everton training today after three days away from Finch Farm.
Gordon’s absence on Tuesday – the first session back after Frank Lampard’s sacking as manager – was described by the club as ‘planned’, along with Amadou Onana, but no explanation has been given for his no-shows on either Wednesday and Thursday.
Gordon is wanted by nouveau riche Newcastle United whose transfer war chest has been bolstered significantly by their takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment fund.

But it is understood that Everton value the winger at £60million while the Magpies don’t want to spend more than £40million.
Turning 22 next month, Gordon also attracted interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea last summer with the latter pursuing him aggressively in the final days of the window.
The Kirkdale-born player, who has netted four times in nine games for England Under-21s is viewed as Everton’s brightest home-grown talent and has been with them since the age of 11 but after 78 appearances and seven goals for the club, his future will become an immediate priority for the Blues’ next boss.
