Newcastle United have reportedly set a maximum valuation of £40million on Anthony Gordon as speculation continues surrounding his future at Everton.
The Blues' forward came close to leaving during the summer transfer window amid strong interest from Chelsea, though stayed put as Everton kept hold of the talented youngster. Fast forward to the current window and Gordon is once again being tipped for the exit doors, this time in favour of signing for Newcastle.
Gordon was absent from first-team training yesterday afternoon, further fuelling talk over his future at the club, though the ECHO understands this was a planned absence - as was also the case with Amadou Onana.

Offering a latest update on the state of play, our sister site Chronicle Live have suggested the 21-year-old could soon be forced to hand in a transfer request as the Blues fail to budge on their £60million valuation. Newcastle are not prepared to spend in excess of £40m, posing an issue from a negotiation standpoint.
The article adds Gordon and his representatives could soon have no other choice than to 'force the issue', unless the Blues are prepared to take a more flexible approach regarding Newcastle's approach for the player.
