Gordon role
The mood is clearly high at Finch Farm as Everton prepare to take on Chelsea to begin the 2022/23 Premier League season, and the squad have been making sure they are ready for the challenge at hand on Saturday at Goodison Park.
The first portion of the club's latest behind-the-scenes video shows multiple stars in the gym, working on various weights and conditioning to make sure they are in the best shape for the visit of Thomas Tuchel's men. Some of that was filmed by the usual Blues employees, but Anthony Gordon also wanted to try his hand.
The winger, having finished his own session in the gym, took control of one of the cameras and produced a tour of the room, showing off the work of multiple teammates in the process. Nathan Patterson, Lewis Warrington, Ruben Vinagre and Yerry Mina all take starring roles while Gordon has control of the camera, with the young forward taking a good opportunity to spread a good mood around the room during his time there.

Godfrey strength
After the footage was back in the hands of a professional, attention quickly turned to a new group of players that had entered the gym. Alex Iwobi and Dele shared a joke with each other before the former began to work on his conditioning ahead of this weekend's game.
The latter, meanwhile, had taken a moment to observe Ben Godfrey, who was working on some pull-ups over on the other side of the gym. The defender was not only pulling his chin over the top of the bar, but then muscling up to make sure the whole top half of his body was over the bar before coming back down and starting again.
After they got a bit too taxing, the centre-back then continued to do some more traditional pull-ups before jumping down and throwing his shirt on the floor in celebration. Dele's turn towards the camera while all this was going on, however, was the highlight.
The midfielder had a look of shock and awe on his face as his teammate was completing some incredible feats of strength, before laughing and walking away.
Training returns
After some clips from the gym at Finch Farm, the second half of the latest video turns its attention to Goodison Park. The Everton squad were out on the grass in the stadium on Thursday to complete a training session, ahead of Frank Lampard facing the media for his pre-match press conference in the same location.
And there were a few notable returns to training ahead of the game against Chelsea this weekend. Mina, who missed the last friendly against Dynamo Kyiv, was declared fit by his manager earlier in the week and took part in the session leading up to the match.
Seamus Coleman was another mentioned by Lampard in his press conference, as he confirmed the club captain would turn out for the under-21s in their match against Blackburn Rovers at Southport on Friday evening in a bid to improve his fitness. Ahead of that appearance, he was with his teammates and taking part in the session at Goodison.
Another player who missed the most recent friendly of the summer was Jean-Philippe Gbamin, before he was pictured in an airport in an image widely shared on social media - with that understood to have been purely down to the players being given time off in at the end of last week. However, the midfielder was back involved with his teammates in preparation for the Chelsea visit, with his immediate future still seemingly being a little unclear.
Sharp scorers
Everton will, unfortunately, be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the opening weeks of the season - including this upcoming match against Chelsea. Salomon Rondon will also be absent for the weekend's match at Goodison Park as he serves the last match of a suspension.
Thankfully for Lampard, he managed to see a lot of his forward players looking sharp in their shooting drills ahead of the game. It's not yet clear what system the Blues will play or who will be trusted to be played through the middle.
Dele seems to be the top candidate for the latter and he scored a few nice goals which were caught on camera. One particular moment saw the attacking midfielder neatly round Andy Lonergan before casually tapping the ball over the line with a beaming smile on his face.
Mentions have to go to Demarai Gray, Anthony Gordon and Dwight McNeil though as they each produced some fine efforts. However, the best goal of the drill might well have been Stanley Mills, as the youngster rifled one into the top corner.
