Anthony Gordon became the first member of Everton’s squad to publicly speak out on the sacking of Frank Lampard.
The Blues last night confirmed that Lampard had been sacked after just under a year in charge. Lampard leaves Everton second bottom of the Premier League.
During his 357-days in charge of the club, Lampard managed just 12 victories in 44 games, and leaves the club with a win ratio worse than any permanent manager with the exception of Mike Walker.

Gordon, however, was close to Lampard during his time at the club and it is no surprise that the England Under-21 international has moved to thank his former boss, and four members of his coaching staff, for all the help and support they have shown him.
“To the gaffer and his staff, thank you for everything,” he wrote on Instagram. “I had a personal relationship with everyone of you and it was a pleasure to learn from you all.
“I appreciate all the time you put in to helping me grow as a player and a person. Good luck.”
Defender Nathan Patterson also took to social media today with a message for Lampard, posting on Twitter: "Thanks for everything gaffer. I’ll always appreciate the support on and off the park and for giving me my debut. The same goes for all the staff - Ash, Joe, Paul and Chris. Good guys."
In a club statement on Monday night, Everton thanked Lampard and his coaching staff for all their hard work during what was described as a 'challenging 12 months' for the Goodison Park club.
“Everyone at Everton would like to thank Frank and his coaching staff for their service during what has been a challenging 12 months,” a club statement read.
“Frank and his team’s commitment and dedication have been exemplary throughout their time at the Club, but recent results and the current league position meant this difficult decision had to be taken. We wish Frank and all his backroom team well for their future in the game.”
