Anthony Elanga prepared to celebrate before Cristiano Ronaldo scored against Brentford

Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans have spotted Anthony Elanga running away to celebrate before Cristiano Ronaldo had even tucked away his second-half penalty in Monday night's 3-0 win over Brentford.

After a miserable season, United finally put on a show at Old Trafford in their final home match of the season to swat away the Bees. Elanga did brilliantly to tee up Bruno Fernandes for United's opener in the ninth minute before a second strike from Ronaldo was ruled out for offside by VAR.

But Ronaldo wasn't to be denied, and he made no mistakes from the spot on the hour mark, bagging his 18th league goal of the season. Raphael Varane broke his United duck ten minutes later to cap a fine performance for Ralf Rangnick's men.

After setting United on their way with his early impact, Elanga was once again at the heart of everything good about United's play. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough campaign, making 25 appearances and bagging two goals and three assists.

But the Swedish winger was lauded by United fans for more than just his performance on Monday night after some fans spotted him wheeling away in celebration prior to Ronaldo's spot-kick. And he made his early start count by recreating the Portuguese veteran's infamous 'Siu' celebration with him down by the corner flag.

Away from his antics, Elanga left United icon Roy Keane purring with his all-action display. And the Irishman tipped the young winger for bigger and better things in the future, highlighting the massive impact the teenager has made in an otherwise dismal campaign for United.

Speaking to Sky Sports on Elanga's involvement for United's first goal, Keane said: “Just the movement from Elanga, he’s very positive. Very good movement, but poor defending.

"That’s what you want from young players. You got to mix your game up, when to go short, when to spin. It’s a good ball from Dalot. Right into the area and Fernandes, very simple but very effective. Lovely ball. [Elanga's] definitely got a bright future. Everything he does, on the pitch, is always positive.”

And Elanga himself could hardly hide his delight when he was asked to sum up breaking into United's first-team squad this season. He told MUTV: "It has been crazy. To play 25 games for the first-team has been amazing for me.

"Yes, we have not had the best of seasons, but we can always get back to improving and focussing on our next two games. Work hard over the summer and with the new manager coming in, it should be really, really special.

"I just want to keep playing. I feel like I am ready to take that next step, really kick on, not just for the club but international level as well. I feel like I'm ready and I want to keep pushing, keep working hard."
