Anthony Edwards dashed to the locker room right after missing a season-saving 3

For one player, Anthony Edwards probably did just about everything to keep the Minnesota Timberwolves afloat in their first-round series against the Denver Nuggets.

Over the course of five games with the Western Conference’s top seed, Edwards averaged 31.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.8 boards per game. He was a one-man wrecking crew that practically singlehandedly ensured this series didn’t end in a sweep.

So when it came time for the Timberwolves to make a game-tying three-pointer to save their season Tuesday night, the play would come down to Edwards.

It had to be. Except he missed, and the Nuggets advanced to the second round after a 112-109 win.

And after missing, Edwards was evidently so heartbroken he couldn’t bear to spend another moment on the court. He wasted no time, sprinting right to the locker room.

Oof. Brutal. You hate to see a young star leave everything on the line and react that way after their team still falls short. Edwards did what he could to buoy Minnesota, but it still wasn’t enough.
