Anthony Davis will remain with the Los Angeles Lakers for a while.
On Friday, the first day he was eligible for a contract extension, he agreed to a three-year extension that will reportedly be worth $186 million.
The deal will keep him in the Purple and Gold through the 2027-28 season. His current contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
In terms of annual compensation, it is the richest extension in NBA history. Earlier this summer, the Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown signed the richest contract in terms of total money. His deal is worth $304 million over five years and will keep him in Boston until 2029.

Davis is coming off arguably his greatest statistical season ever. There was some speculation that the Lakers would be hesitant to offer him a contract extension as soon as he was eligible for one due to his injury history.
