Ant McPartlin bloody and bandaged after smashing his head on a coconut at BGT auditions

Ant McPartlin had medical attention on the set of Britain’s Got Talent after he smashed his head on a coconut and he was left dripping with blood.

In an unseen clip from the audition stages shared by ITV, the Geordie TV presenter was shown standing next to co-host Declan Donnelly at the side of the stage while a contestant calling himself Hammerhead attempts to break a world record for the number of coconuts he can smash.

McPartlin, 46, then decided to have a go and grabbed a coconut which he tries unsuccessfully to crack open with his bare hands.

After punching the fruit, he warned viewers: “Do not punch coconuts kids, it really hurts. I think I nearly broke my knuckle.”

Undeterred, he then smashed it against his forehead with Donnelly pointing out afterwards that he is bleeding.

A medic was then called to attended to the wounded star.

After his head has been bandaged up, he asked: “When do I change this? When I get home?”

To which the medic responded: “Yes, a new one every day for three weeks.”

“For three weeks?!” He said.

Poking fun at his afflicted friend, Donnelly told him: “I tell you what though, you might be able to do it now. You’ve got some padding!”

McPartlin has had enough of coconuts for one day. He said: “I won’t be able to do it now! That will open the wound, that will!”

Judge’s Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams do not appear in the clip and have yet to comment on the incident.
