Ant and Dec 'panic' as Alison Hammond almost causes Saturday Night Takeaway to fall apart

Ant and Dec have revealed how they panicked after Alison Hammond nearly ruined their Saturday Night Takeaway prank.

The Geordie stars, who are returning to our screens with the ITV show this weekend, have given fans a sneak peek into the new series. The presenters appeared on The One Show on the BBC and talked about the prank they played on This Morning star Alison.

In a clip, Alison was shown entering a creepy-looking hotel, while Ant and Dec stayed in a secret room on the premises to carry out the prank. However, Alison was immediately put off by the place, as she dubbed it "haunted" in the foyer and was then seen in a guest room saying: “A million per cent I'm not staying here.”

In later scenes in the haunted hotel, complete with eerie dolls along the walls, Alison said: “This place is haunted. I feel it. I have an affinity with spirits.”

In the BBC studio, Ant McPartlin said: “I actually feel a bit sorry for her watching that.” Dec then said the prank very nearly went "absolutely haywire".

He explained: “She got as far as reception and said I'm not staying here. This place is too spooky. We've set the whole place up, and got hidden cameras everywhere.”

Ant added: “We had to ring the plant, which was the producer from This Morning, and get her into the restaurant for a drink at least. We then had to ring the driver and just get him away so she didn't have a car to go to. We had to do anything we could to keep her there.”

Dec then teased: “That is the one that very nearly didn't happen. It's the closest to falling apart,” as Ant added: “There's genuine panic on our faces.”

Saturday Night Takeaway will also feature favourite segments including Ring My Bell, Singalong Live and Win the Ads and there are some brilliant End of the Show shows planned throughout the series run, reports The Mirror.

Stephen Mulhern, Fleur East, Jordan North and Andi Peters will all help Ant and Dec out throughout the series once again, with Stephen putting the boys through a brand new set of high octane Ant vs Dec challenges.
