Ant and Dec make Sunderland dig at guest announcer Jill Scott on Saturday Night Takeaway

Ant and Dec began this weeks episode of Saturday Night Takeaway with a dig at I'm a Celebrity winner Jill Scott.

Jill was revealed as the guest announcer on the show on Saturday night. The former footballer, who is from Sunderland, was part of the England squad which won the UEFA Women's Euro 2022.

The presenters, who are both from Newcastle and support Newcastle United, welcomed the 36-year-old to the ITV show by taking a swipe at her home city.

They told viewers that the last time they saw her she was in a "dark place", before joking that it was Sunderland.

Jill, who previously played football for Sunderland Women, responded by asking them: "Is that the only reason you invited me on, to have a go at Sunderland?"

Dec tells her: "It's not the only reason. It's the main reason but it's not the only reason."

Jill then makes a joke about at Dec's height, asking him: "Well what is it then? Do you want me to get something off a high shelf in your dressing room Dec?"

Ant responds by saying: "Whey..... ouch! We might need some cream for that burn."

Jill travelled to Australia last year to compete in the 22nd series of I'm a Celeb, which was presented by Ant & Dec. She was crowned 'Queen of the Jungle' after beating Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner to the top spot.

Not long after welcoming Jill to the show, Ant & Dec announced the nine camp mates who are set to star in I'm a Celebrity... South Africa. The new show will air on ITV and ITV X next month.

All of the campmates have already appeared on a previous series of the show. They will compete against each other to become the 'I'm a Celebrity Legend'.

They are:

  • Paul Burrell
  • Carol Vorderman
  • Jordon Banjo
  • Shaun Ryder
  • Helen Flanigan
  • Fatima Whitbread
  • Phil Tufnell
