Ant and Dec are to take a break from their presenting duties on Saturday Night Takeaway. Anthony McPartlin, 44, confirmed their decision by saying: "We love making Saturday Night Takeaway, but reaching the milestone of 20 series seemed like the perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath.
Declan Donnelly, 47, added: “We still have a momentous 20th series to look forward to first so we will do our best to go out (for now) with a bang in 2024.”
Taking to Twitter, Ant said: "Hi everyone, we've got some news for you, next year, in 2024, it will be our 20th series of Saturday Night Takeaway. We've got some very special look-backs planned as well as some very exciting new items."
While Dec added: "We've also decided that our 20th series will be our last one for a little while. The show takes up such a lot of our year, we just feel that we need a little bit of a breather and the show is going to take a little bit of a rest."
"But before that though," continued Ant before he went on to say: "We've got the 20th series to plan, haven't we?"
The ITV variety show premiered back in 2002, although the pair took a break for other projects between 2009 and 2013.
The show focuses on a mixture of live and pre-recorded entertainment and quiz segments, including an audience-based quiz involving the television adverts during a week's episode of one of ITV's programmes and a competition in each series between the two presenters.
Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway has won many awards, including three Baftas.
