Ant and Dec in unlikely 'break up' on Britain's Got Talent after audition snub

Ant McPartlin was left frustrated after an unlikely break-up for Ant and Dec as the auditions on Britain's Got Talent continued on Saturday (May 7). The show's return after a near two-year hiatus has racked up the ratings for ITV.

And the much-loved hosts have once again played a major part in the success, with viewers enjoying their backstage quips and reaction to acts, as well as their occasional digs at the judges. For decades the national treasures have come as a pair on TV since their debut on Byker Grove all those years ago.

So it came as a surprise, then, when a BGT contestant decided to separate them, Chronicle Live reports. One of the early acts on screen during Saturday's BGT was entertainer Tommy J, who told the judges he was going to juggle knives whilst riding a unicycle.

After arriving on stage and getting his introductions over with, Tommy said: "So I'm looking for a volunteer. An intelligent man, dare I say, a sexy man." And then as Simon Cowell raised his hand, Tommy added: "Yes...it's Dec. Come on Dec!"

As Dec walked in from backstage, wheeling the giant unicycle into shot, judge David Walliams pointed and shouted: "He can't get on that!" Ant was also quick to react, looking at the camera and grumbling: "Just Dec by the way. Who arranged this?"

Simon was quick to buzz for Tommy to finish before Ant did actually get to play a part in the routine by bringing some flamed torches for Tommy to contend with. The judges were torn on whether to put Tommy through to the next round, with Simon and Amanda not impressed and Alesha going with the audience reaction and saying 'yes', as did David.

Amanda admitted she was 'in the middle,' but after Ant and Dec declared they loved the act, Amanda declared: "We don't do enough for Ant and Dec, so for them, it's a yes!"
