Ant and Dec halt Saturday Night Takeaway as game with Anna Maxwell-Martin goes wrong

Ant and Dec were forced to call a halt to Saturday Night Takeaway after a game involving guest star Anna Maxwell-Martin went wrong.

Line of Duty and Motherland star Anna followed in the footsteps of RuPaul and Paloma Faith by becoming the ITV show's latest Star Guest Announcer and, after introducing Michael Buble to the stage, she took part in Read My Lips.

The idea of the game is that the celebrity can't hear what they viewer at home is saying on screen and has to lip read to try and guess the word they're shouting. The first two rounds went to plan, with the two members of the public winning plenty of cash.

But then things went a little awry with Colette, the next lady who joined Ant and Dec and Anna via video to play from her living room. The theme of the game was famous British TV shows with the likes of The Voice and Dancing on Ice among the answers.

So it came as surprise when the woman at home started saying things like 'nachos' and 'biriyani,' prompting Anna to shout: "Come on Colette!" Realising something had gone wrong, both Ant and Dec started shouting "Stop stop!" but Anna, who was wearing headphones, couldn't hear them and the woman at home kept shouting the words out.

Eventually the hosts managed to bring things to a halt, with Ant saying: "Listen, you obviously had a wrong list of words to start with. So we're going to start again with BRITISH TV SHOWS pet. British TV shows!"

Realising what had gone wrong, Anna burst out laughing before the game eventually resumed and Colette managed to win some money.
